A 13-year-old girl was found in a brothel and tavern in Chatsworth, Durban, during a police raid, The Mercury newspaper reported on Thursday.

The paper quoted metro police spokesperson Joyce Khuzwayo as saying the girl was found living with a man in his thirties.

Khuzwayo said she believed the girl was trafficked from the Eastern Cape into central Durban and then transferred to Chatsworth.

The case had been handed over to the SA Police Service for further investigation, she said.
