Six people have been arrested in the Strand area near Cape Town on drug related charges, Western Cape police said on Friday.
Captain Bernadine Steyn said police arrested two women and two men at a house in Asanda Village on Thursday afternoon after two other men - who were apprehended earlier in the day - led them to the venue.
At around 2pm officers on patrol noticed a suspicious looking vehicle in Lwandle and when they investigated a man got out of the black VW Polo and ran into an open field.
A constable gave chase and apprehended him.
"The 17-year-old male was searched during which nine parcels of dagga were found in his possession with an estimated street value of about R540," said Steyn.
Meanwhile the driver of the Polo drove away and was followed to a house in Nissan Park.
The 38-year-old man was arrested for reckless and negligent driving.Follow-up investigations then led police to a house in Asanda Village where they found 25kg of dagga with an estimated street value of R13 000.
A firearm was also confiscated.
Two men and two women were arrested at the scene for dealing in drugs and possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The six suspects were expected to appear in the Strand Magistrate's Court soon.
