The National Prosecuting Authority could approach Kwa-Zulu Natal Judge President, Vuka Tshabalala on Monday, to drop the charges against Jacob Zuma.
The Sunday Independent has claimed that insiders expect acting NPA boss, Mokotedi Mpshe to scrap the case within days.
Speculation has been rife in recent weeks that the charges against Zuma would be dropped soon and the Sunday paper has reported the allegations as fact.
The paper maintained that the impending move was the result of secret evidence set to point out blatant executive and outside interference in the NPA?s work.
Zuma himself has long insisted that he has been the victim of a political conspiracy and has made representations to the NPA asking it to scrap the case against him.
Earlier this week, it was reported that recorded telephone conversations between former president Thabo Mbeki and ex-Scorpions boss Leonard McCarthy, had been handed over to the NPA.
However, Mokotedi Mphse has refused to confirm or deny the claims.
Got something to say?
