ANC dividing SA - Zille
Sat, 04 Apr 2009 12:00
The ANC wants to use South Africa's ethnic differences to divide
South Africa in order to win the coming elections, DA leader Helen
Zille said on Saturday.
Speaking at a rally in Kimberley, Zille referred to ANC president
Jacob Zuma's statement that white Afrikaners were the only true white
South Africans.
Zille said the ANC wants Afrikaners to establish themselves in a
small homeland or "Volkstaat" in the desert.
"Because then they are out of the way," she said.
Zille said Zuma sweet-talked the Afrikaners by making this statement
and that Freedom Front Plus leader, Pieter Mulder, was playing in the
ANC's hands by welcoming it.
"This (the establishment of a Volkstaat) is also the FF Plus policy
but they don't talk about it... whilst it is in their constitution.
"They only talk about what they will do outside the Volkstaat, as
they know the overwhelming majority of Afrikaners want to claim their
rights as South Africans and to do this, they need to confront the ANC
and refuse to beg and plead," she said.
Zille said she was confident that the DA will win the Northern and
Western Cape provinces in the coming elections.
"The latest surveys show that the ANC's support dropped
drastically to about 52 percent," she said.
