Two men will appear in court on Friday for allegedly slitting the throat of an occupational therapist in Krugersdorp during an attempted house robbery, Gauteng police said.
Inspector Odette van Staden said the two men gained access to the house in Noordheuwel, Krugersdorp on Wednesday at around 2pm.
The men first assaulted the woman's 17-year-old daughter after she arrived home.
She was unconscious in a bedroom when her 48-year-old mother arrived at the house a while later.
The mother was overpowered and stabbed several times before the men slit her throat and she died.
A mother and child who were waiting in the occupational therapy office on the same premises contacted the police who arrived at the scene within minutes.
"One of the men was hiding in the ceiling and the police arrested him," said Van Staden.
"A second suspect was arrested later in the evening in Munsieville.
"They will appear in court today [Friday] on charges of murder and attempted house robbery," said Van Staden.
