The ANC has reportedly taken 62.9 percent of the vote in
KwaZulu-Natal.
It was followed by the IFP with 22.4 percent, the DA with 09.1
percent and Cope with 1.29 percent, e.tv reported from the
Independent Electoral Commission results operations centre in
Pretoria.
While the ANC's lead is up from 46 percent in 2004, the IFP's
showing is down on the 36.8 percent it garnered in the previous
election. The DA also marked an increase from eight percent in the
province.
Although the IEC has yet to declare the result in the Western
Cape, provision results released early on Saturday indicate that
the DA has taken 51.46 percent of the vote there.
This is nearly double its tally in 2004 and a resounding victory
over the ANC whose vote share fell sharply to 31.55 percent.
