The African National Congress' Head of Policy, Jeff Radebe, said the party's National Executive Committee would meet this week to decide on eight provincial premiers.
"Premiers of the ANC have to be elected by the National Executive Committee. From the branch to the region to the province they have to come up with three names upon which the national executive committee will choose one,? Radebe explained.
The country's major political parties will meet this week to discuss who will be appointed premiers and members of Parliament and members of the provincial legislatures.
The Congress of the People's Sipho Ngwema explained that party's top 12 meet on Tuesday to confirm who will take up its thirty seats in Parliament.
The African National Congress' National Executive meet on Wednesday as incoming President Jacob Zuma mulls over whom he will appoint to his Cabinet.
It has been speculated that the names submitted for Gauteng are Paul Mashatile, Angie Motshekga and Nomvula Mokonyane.
Meanwhile, Winnie Madikizela-Mandela has prepared for a return to mainstream politics despite her family's concerns about her age: "The age of hope and promises is over. We are going work so watch us; we are going to be in action".
The Democratic Alliance's Mike Moriarty said the official opposition's structures in Gauteng will also be consulting: "We will elect our office bearers and we will probably start talking a little in broad terms about what the strategy is going to be".
As the country moves forward, former National Party foreign affairs minister Pik Botha said it was time for people to throw their weight behind the new government and that people should change their attitude towards Jacob Zuma.
"I believe we should stop shooting down everything he says and rather say we support your intention to combat crime," remarked Botha.
