Sol Plaatje municipal mayor Patrick Everyday was expected to lay wreaths on the graves of those killed in an accident at Saulspoort dam six years ago, the SABC reported on Friday.

Fifty-one municipal workers were killed during a bus accident at the dam.

The group was travelling to a May Day rally at Phuthaditjhaba in QwaQwa in the Eastern Free State when their bus plunged into the dam near Bethlehem, the SABC said.

The Sol Plaatje mayor's visit to the graveyard was expected to be followed by rallies at Galeshewe where the ANC's National Executive Committee Member Tokyo Sexwale and trade union Nehawu's Deputy President Lulamile Sotaka were expected to address workers.
