The minister in the presidency Manto Tshabalala-Msimang will attend a memorial service in honour of the late minister of communications Ivy Matsepe-Casaburri on Saturday.

The office of the presidency said in a statement on Friday that the service would be organised by the Nkunkumathe community in Nkandla, KwaZulu Natal.

"The community of Nkunkumathe was adopted by the Minister in the Presidency and the late Minister of Communications in 2004," the statement said.

"The community felt it proper to organise a memorial service in honour of the late minister since they could not attend the official funeral," the statement added.

Tshabalala-Msimang was also expected to hand over farming apparatus to the community including a tractor, three utility vans and agricultural nets to cover crops.

According to the statement, Tshabalala-Msimang was expected to be accompanied by her husband, Mendi Msimang ? former treasurer general of the ANC ? and the Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry Elizabeth Thabethe.
