The City of Cape Town has opened bidding for naming rights and the
appointment of a long-term operator for its 2010 stadium, under
construction at Green Point.
The stadium will host eight matches, including a semi-final, during
the soccer world cup tournament.
City spokesperson Pieter Cronje said on Saturday that the naming rights
was a "historic opportunity" which would provide one company the chance
to become a part of Cape Town's skyline.
A standardised marketing information pack would be available to all
prospective naming rights bidders from June 2.
The closing date for tenders was July 31.
Interested parties could tender for the naming rights, the operator
opportunity or both.
