Convicted murderer Najwa Petersen heads back to court on Tuesday morning.

Petersen is expected to ask the Western Cape High Court for leave to appeal her murder conviction in the Supreme Court of Appeal.

She was sentenced to 28 years in prison earlier this year for the murder of her husband, Taliep Petersen.

Petersen contends her conviction should be overturned because the police officials who questioned her and state witness Fahiem Hendricks did not inform her of her Constitutional rights.

The court relied heavily on the evidence of the police, which pointed to the murder conspiracy.

Abdoer Emjedi, who was sentenced to 24 years for his part in the murder, was also asking for leave to appeal.
