Najwa Petersen's family said they would approach the Supreme Court of Appeal and petition judges to grant her leave to appeal her conviction.

Petersen's bid for leave to appeal was rejected in the Cape High Court on Wednesday.

The widow was serving a 28-year jail term for the murder of music icon husband Taliep Petersen.

Her family said the fight to get her out of prison was far from over.
