The shortlist for the SABC board has been finalised with interviews set to start later this month, Parliament's portfolio committee on communications said on Wednesday.

Committee chairperson Ismail Vadi said he was satisfied with the keen interest the public and civil society had shown in the process.

The shortlist of 31 candidates was compiled by a multi-party task team and it reportedly included interim board member Desmond Golding, Andile Mbeki, Susan Vos, former opposition party leader Frederik Van Zyl Slabbert, veteran journalist Max Du Preez, journalist Pippa Green, Tselane Tambo, Ben Ngubane and Khotso Khumalo.

Interviews would take place from 8 to 10 September in Parliament.
