A woman and a seven-year-old girl were injured when shots were fired through their bedroom window in Riverlea, Johannesburg on Thursday morning, police said.
"A couple and their daughter were asleep in their flat in Riverlea when a number of shots were fired through their window at 1.20am," Superintendent Dollar Sithebe said.
"The child and her 23-year-old mother were slightly injured as the bullet grazed them on the mouth and hand. The 25-year-old husband was not injured."
The man told the police he suspected his ex-wife was responsible for the shooting.
"He claimed that when they broke up, she vowed to never leave him alone. She apparently said that it was not over and made threats against the family's life."
