A man has been stabbed and killed while jogging on a main road in Kenilworth, Cape Town, on Tuesday morning.

The man was jogging along Rosemead Avenue opposite the Kenilworth racecourse when he was attacked.

A detective could be seen kneeling down inspecting blood stains in the sand after a mortuary van took the man's body away.

The man, who is yet to be identified, was dressed in running gear and is believed to be in his late 50s or early 60s.

With little information to go on the dog unit has been called in to assist police officers.

Traffic along Rosemead Avenue slowed down as curious motorists tried to catch a glimpse of what was happening.
