Cracks in the unity of the Congress of the People appear to be deepening with the news that the media team has refused to work since the general elections.
The staff, which include volunteers, stopped working at the end of last month, claiming they had not been paid. They also said they were being undermined.
Cope's executive has strongly denied the claims.
Members of the party's media team told Eyewitness News they were not working because they had not been paid.
Those volunteers who were not expecting remuneration have joined them in solidarity.
Compounding the situation was that some were upset about being denied access to certain meetings, something they felt undermined them.
Over the past month, all queries to spokespeople were referred to communications head Phillip Dexter. He has denied there is a problem.
He said all members of the team were either volunteers or seconded from companies. Dexter said those who should be paid would get their money at the end of the month.
"The fact that no one has been working since has got nothing to do with any of these issues. No one is expected to work after the elections," said Dexter.
Cope's media strategists are now plotting their futures. One individual said they did not know if they wanted to carry on with the work now that the politicians were "acting like politicians".
