A motorist was arrested after running over a woman in Bronkhorspuit and fleeing the scene, Johannesburg police said on Saturday.
The incident occurred at Zithobeni Informal Settlement on Friday around 6pm, said spokesperson Johannes Jafta.
"The man hit the 40-year-old woman with his vehicle and sped away from the scene, he returned to the scene on foot and was identified by a bystander who witnessed the accident," said Jafta.
The man was arrested and would appear in the Bronkhorstspruit Magistrates Court on Monday, facing charges of culpable homicide and fleeing the scene of an accident, he said.
