The Johannesburg Metro Police Department said its clampdown on reckless and negligent driving, Operation Nomakanjani, was here to stay.
More than 50 motorists were arrested in the city centre between Thursday night and Friday morning.
The department's Edna Mamonyane said officers were hell-bent on enforcing the rules of the road.
"For all the motorists and the people who are driving recklessly out there, this unit is going to make sure we bring back law and order on our roads," said Mamonyane.
Nomakonjani officers will be out and about this weekend as well.
Got something to say?
