Two men and a woman who work at a place of safety for abused
children were arrested in Krugersdorp for alleged sexual abuse and
rape, police said on Saturday.
Captain Jacob Raboroko said police received information about
the abuse taking place a private facility which took in abused
children.
"The people who own that place, they sexually abuse and molest
the children," Raboroko said.
He said the abuse had apparently been going on for three years.
On Friday afternoon, police went to the home, accompanied by
people from the social welfare and development department.
The three were arrested.
The departmental officials removed the 28 children, aged between
7 and 17, from the home and took them to another place.
The three are currently detained in police custody and will
appear in the Krugersdorp Magistrates' Court on Monday.
They face charges of contravening the child act and also of
rape.
