A motorist was found burnt to death behind the wheel of a car on the N2 near Chatsworth on Sunday morning, KwaZulu-Natal paramedics said.
After firefighters had put out the blaze, paramedics found a corpse behind the wheel of a smouldering car on the N2, near the M1 shortly after midnight, said ER24 spokesperson Derrick Banks in a statement.
"It is unclear how the accident occurred as emergency personal could not see any structural damage to the Armco barrier, and there were no witnesses to see how the accident occurred."
The victim had not yet been identified. It was also not possible to immediately determine what type of car it was.
