A 19-year old man accused of killing a Northern Cape farmer will appear in the Kimberley Magistrates' court on Monday, police said.

The teenager, a Zimbabwean, was arrested in Mokopane, Limpopo on Thursday.

"We found the deceased's cellphone and sim card in the possession of the suspect. Other stolen items were also recovered," said Captain Tony Modise on Sunday.

Farmer Elias Khari Sehularo (81) was found dead in a pool of his own blood on his Roodepan farm on 15 May. He had a slash wound to the head.

Police suspected the 19-year-old, who had been employed by Sehularo, when he went missing immediately after the murder.

Modise said police had difficulty finding him as "he used a fraudulent permit with a false name and no permanent residential address".

He was eventually found when police resorted to a "more intensive form of investigation technique".
