Three young men were killed when the stolen car they were driving overturned near Thornville, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Sunday.

The car, a Ford Courier LDV, was found on Saturday morning with one person dead and a second seriously injured, said Senior Superintendent Henry Budhram in a statement.

The seriously injured man was taken to hospital where he later died. The body of the third man was later found in a field on the scene. All three were in their 20s.

The car had been reported stolen a few hours before the accident. The owner was asleep in his home in France Township when woke to the sound of his car being pushed into the street. The owner saw five men get in and drive off.
