All roads in the City of Tshwane were opened by Tuesday morning after rain caused flash floods, the City's community Safety department said.

Spokesperson Console Tleane said roads were opened around 10.30pm on Monday, after the flooding subsided.

He said three cars were swept off the road and two trucks got stuck in the flood water on Monday evening. No one inside the vehicles were injured.

"Motorists are still urged to drive with care and observe mud that may be found on those spots that had water concentration."

Roads that were closed on Monday included Hippo and End roads in Centurion, Von Hagen and Trans Oranje in Pretoria West, DF Malan and De Waal intersection in Capital Park.

Also closed were Burger and Gerrit Maritz in Pretoria West and Church St, Pretoria West.

Tleane said the SA Weather Service advised that there would be a 30 percent chance of rain on Tuesday. "Metro Police, Fire Brigade Services, and the Disaster Management Centre will remain on alert for any eventuality," he said.
