A Cape Town man is probably regretting that he decided to argue
with city traffic cops at the weekend.
The city's traffic services spokesperson Merle Lourens said the
special Ghost Squad, which operates in unmarked cars, took part on
Sunday night in an operation to curb illegal street racing in
Belhar.
Squad members were charging two motorists when eight men
interceded.
Two of the men were arrested. The others started throwing stones
and abusing the officers, who arrested two more.
All four were charged at Bishop Lavis police station.
"On doing further checks, it was found that one of the suspects
was wanted for murder, attempted murder, armed robbery, illegal
possession of a firearm and several other offences," said Lourens.
