Platinum dust, cocaine and stolen mag wheels were among the items seized during a police swoop to keep the North West town of Rustenburg crime-free during the Confederations Cup.

The province's police commissioner Lesetja Beetha said on Friday that 62 people were arrested during a multi-agency operation which included the SA National Defence Force, national intelligence and home affairs departments on Thursday night.

Of those arrested, 57 people were found to be undocumented.

The searches and arrests also yielded sound equipment, a laptop, a car tyre, cellphones, a sword, car radios and a firearm stolen at the nearby Bafokeng Magistrate's Court.

Car rear lights and mirrors were also part of the stash seized.

"The provincial commissioner would like to thank the community for their co-operation and all members of security cluster departments who worked tirelessly to ensure safety and security." Beetha said in a statement.

Those arrested would appear in court soon.
