Science and Technology Minister Naledi Pandor will serve as the President of the Republic for two days as from midnight on Thursday, the Presidency said.

Spokesperson Vusi Mona said in a statement that Pandor would serve as President until Saturday.

The appointment comes after she was sworn in to act in this regard by Deputy Chief Justice Dikgang Moseneke at the Union Buildings on Monday.

Pandor will be holding office while President Jacob Zuma is on a two-day working visit to Brazil and Deputy President Kgalema Motlanthe is visiting Sweden.
