A light aircraft crashed in Margate in KwaZulu-Natal on Wednesday, emergency services said.

"A light aircraft has crashed at the Margate airfields," said Netcare 911's Jeff Wicks.

"The pilot lost control of the aircraft when he was trying to land and collided with the airport fence," Wicks said.

The pilot was alone in the aircraft and he was not injured.
