An 88-year-old woman was robbed of her jewellery at her
Walkerville home, south of Johannesburg on Thursday, Vereeniging
police said.
The woman opened her door at 8.30am and found two men, in their
30s, claiming to be looking for a job, spokesperson Captain Shado
Mashobane said.
"When she told them she already had a gardener, they then asked
for water and followed her to the kitchen where they grabbed and
carried her to the bedroom."
They throttled her, took her necklace and four rings, including
her wedding ring, and ran away. The woman sustained bruises to her
face and hands. No arrests had been made.
