"The South African Navy is offering all fit and adventurous young men and women from all over South Africa an exciting chance of becoming navy divers," it said in a statement.
To be eligible, candidates would need to be physically fit, have a grade 12 certificate or an equivalent with maths. They would need to be between the ages of 18 and 22.
Applicants below the age of 26 could also apply if they had qualified from a tertiary institution.
The applicants must not have any physical disabilities, medical problems or suffer from claustrophobia or the fear of heights.
It was further recommended that the applicants be "strong swimmers" with a flair for general water activities and adventure.
Pre-selection would take place in Bloemfontein on Friday, Pretoria on Monday and Tuesday, Durban on Thursday and Friday, East London on 15 and 16 July, Port Elizabeth from 17 to 20 July), Mossel Bay on 22 and 23 July and Simonstown on 28 and 29 July.
