Ten protesters were arrested in connection with the burning of the Jagersfontein municipal offices in the Free State on Friday, police said.
Over 200 angry Jagersfontein residents took to the streets to protest against poor service delivery on Friday, said Senior Superintendent Sam Makhene.
The march followed a demonstration last week when residents handed a memorandum to the local municipality over poor service delivery last week. The municipality had promised to give feedback on their queries on Friday.
The march turned violent when the residents did not get the feedback promised by authorities. They burnt the municipal offices and the town hall.
"The offices were completely burnt."
Police intervened and calmed the situation and were still at the scene, said Makhene.
