A domestic worker chased away two women attempting to rob the house where she works in Sinoville, north of Pretoria on Friday, police said.

"Around 12pm the domestic worker found two women inside the house where she works. The unknown women were suspected to be robbers," said spokesperson Mirna von Benecke.

The two women started attacking the domestic worker and she retaliated and hit back at them.

"She sustained minor injuries as a result. The two women then fled the scene. They jumped into a car parked outside, where a man was waiting."

It was not yet established if anything was stolen from the house.

A case of attempted robbery was opened, said Von Benecke.
