A 53-year-old Muizenberg man will appear in the local magistrate's court next month for allegedly committing incest with his teenage daughter, according to Sunday's Rapport newspaper.
His court appearance on 7 August would be his third. He had not been asked to plead yet and was out on R1000 bail. He was required to report to the Muizenberg police station daily.
According to Rapport, the man allegedly raped and assaulted his 18-year-old daughter. The girl, who met her father for the first time after she tracked him down on the internet and corresponded with him, arrived from Germany in Cape Town in February.
He allegedly had sex with her for a period of almost two months. When she initially resisted his advances he allegedly threatened her with a knife.
The matter came to light when the man and his daughter went to visit friends and she wrote them a letter.
She was apparently too scared of the man to try and escape. She also neither knew the city nor had friends there.
The man was facing charges of incest, which includes charges of rape, and assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
The teenager was no longer living with him.
