Police are still trying to determine the financial costs involved in the search for a Pretoria woman, who was later found with her lover in Springs, on the East Rand.

The woman was released on R1000 bail on Friday and will appear in court later this month.

Authorities claim that the delay in the woman's court appearance was to give them time to calculate how much money was wasted in the search for her.

She faces a charge of defeating the ends of justice and could be forced to reimburse authorities.

Investigators said they would also drive a heavy fine to send a strong message to those who report fake crimes.

The woman sent a SMS to her husband last week saying he should not look for her or contact police.

Fearing the worst, the concerned man reported the matter to police but his wife was traced to a house near Springs where she was dressed in her pyjamas, visiting her lover.
