Cape Town and Johannesburg are the top two cities in the country
when it comes to service delivery, a survey has found.
Johannesburg, which came second in the Empowerdex survey, scored
more than 90 out of 100 in its delivery of water, sanitation and
electricity, city spokesperson Gugu Makhaya said in a statement on
Wednesday.
"On the overall ranking it is placed second among the six metros
in the country and only marginally behind Cape Town."
The survey, using data from Statistics SA, assessed the extent
of delivery of basic services by all local and metropolitan
municipalities, as well as progress in delivery over time.
Makhaya said the survey confirmed the city's annual customer
findings which indicated a steady growth in satisfaction about the
quality of service delivery among residents between 2006 and 2009.
