Stolen goods valued at R21-million were seized in a Durban church, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Friday.

Captain Khephu Ndlovu said the goods included oriental carpets and paintings.

Police had been following up on information about the hijacking of a truck when they stumbled on the goods in a Folweni church on Thursday at midnight.

The truck had been transporting the goods when it was hijacked in the Point area on 28 May.

The truck was still missing.

"Two people have been arrested for possession of the stolen goods, but they are not church people," said Ndlovu.

Police said they were investigating further and more arrests were imminent.

They were also investigating the possibility that church members might have been involved in the crime.
