The deadline for nominations to the country’s highest court to replace four judges who are retiring ran out on Wednesday.
They also say Hlophe accepted the nomination in writing.
They want him to be the new chief justice.
It comes as the Judicial Service Commission has not yet said when it will hold a rehearing of the Constitutional Court’s claim Hlophe tried to interfere with its deliberations in cases relating to President Jacob Zuma.
The commission said it was not going to release a full list of all the people nominated to the four jobs going on the Constitutional Court.
Instead it will meet later this month before releasing a shortlist of candidates who it will interview in public.
