Drunken driving charges against South Africa's ambassador to
Angola Muziwakhe Kubheka (61) were provisionally withdrawn in the Pinetown
Magistrate?s Court on Tuesday.
Kubheka was arrested in March in the Kloof area, outside Durban,
after
crashing his Mercedes-Benz into a fence. He was charged with
drunken and reckless driving.
State prosecutor Neville Loubser said the charges were being
provisionally withdrawn pending the finalisation of the
investigation.
"The State will issue summons once a blood analysis report has
been done and witnesses have made statements," he said.
Kubheka was the country's ambassador to China, Mongolia and
Denmark before being posted to Angola.
His wife Lindiwe and their baby son Lindithemba died in a car
accident at the Pinetown offramp of the N3 to Durban on 10 May 2003, while he was ambassador to China.
