A 30-year-old man was killed outside the Dros in Garsfontein, Pretoria, police said on Wednesday.

Spokesperson Aveline Hardaker said Petrus Cilliers was shot, allegedly by someone with whom he had been drinking in the restaurant on Tuesday evening.

"The manager called the police during the evening to ask them to remove the two men."

He told the men around 11pm he was going to close the restaurant and asked them to leave.

"They went outside. While they were in the parking area, four shots were fired, which were heard by the customers still in the restaurant. Cilliers stumbled back into the restaurant and collapsed. He was shot three times, in his chest and wrist."

He died on the scene.

The alleged killer fled the scene, but gave himself up at the Garsfontein police station on Wednesday at 3pm, after the police had searched for him at his house.
