Two men were shot dead and two sisters were raped by four men in an armed robbery in Ga-Mashashane village near Seshego, Limpopo police said on Friday.

Inspector Mothemane Malefo said the four men armed with pistols shot a 61-year-old man once in the chest while he was closing his garage at 8.30pm on Thursday. He died instantly.

The assailants then entered the house and shot a 37-year-old man once in the head, killing him.

Malefo said the men then took turns raping the man's two sisters, aged 19 and 26.

"The robbers ransacked the house and stole seven cellphones, a music system and an undisclosed amount of money."

The men then took the older woman at gunpoint to a liquor shop that was owned by the 37-year-old, which is situated two blocks away from the house.

The men stole more cash, packs of cigarettes and airtime recharge vouchers valued at R6000.

"As if that was not enough, all of them raped the woman again and fled in an unknown car," Malefo said.

He said the police were called by neighbours who heard the noise.

The two women were admitted to hospital for treatment and counselling.

Two cases of murder, two counts of rape, one of house robbery and one of business robbery have been opened for investigation.

No arrests had yet been made.
