A 34-year-old Durban woman was arrested for allegedly lying
about being kidnapped and raped, and being forced to cook human
heads, KwaZulu-Natal police said on Friday.
"She was arrested at her home in Folweni on Thursday,"
Superintendent Jay Naicker said.
The woman reported to police that on 10 October she was
allegedly kidnapped by a person who had promised her a job.
She said this person blind-folded her and two other women and
took them to an unknown destination where they were repeatedly
raped by five men and forced to cook human heads.
She claimed she managed to escape the next day.
"A case of kidnapping and rape was opened and the police started
their investigation," said Naicker.
"Members of the Richards Bay Organised Crime Unit made a
breakthrough when they traced the women's boyfriend at Empangeni."
He admitted that the woman was his girlfriend and had visited
him on the day she allegedly went missing.
"He further stated that he gave her money to go back home the
same day she said she had allegedly escaped from her attackers.
"Police then established that she had lied when she said she was
kidnapped and raped," said Naicker.
Naicker declined to speculate on the motive for the crime.
"We can't reveal what she told police as it may jeopardise the
investigation," he said.
