The taxi boss's ten-year-old boy and another body guard were seriously injured in the attack.
"At about 3am three people were shot and killed by unknown suspects at Mphusheni area, Folweni.
"Two other victims including a 10-year-old boy were seriously injured during the shooting and were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment,? said Superintendent Jay Naicker.
He said a group of men approached the body guard on duty at Sbushe Khuzwayo's residence.
"The suspects forced the guard to knock on Khuzwayo's door. As Khuzwayo opened the door, the suspects opened fire fatally wounding both Khuzwayo and his body guard, Thulani Zulu, 39.
"Slindile Mhlongo, 39, and Khuzwayo's son Sfundo Khuzwayo were wounded during the shooting."
A second body guard, Mfanufikile Gumede, 35, was found dead with gunshot wounds about two kilometres from Khuzwayo's home, said Naicker.
He said Khuzwayo, 40, was the chairman of the Folweni Taxi Association.
"Police are investigating three counts of murder and two of attempted murder.
"Members of the Provincial Taxi Violence Task Team are combing the scene and interviewing members of the community as part of their investigation.?
