A driver of a bakkie was killed and a passenger seriously injured when their car lost control and overturned on the N2 road near Amanzimtoti on Saturday, Durban paramedics said.

"It seems the car lost control and rolled, ejecting the driver," said ER24 spokesman Derrick Banks.

The driver died while paramedics were trying to resuscitate him at around 5.20am on Saturday.

The passenger was rushed to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

No other car was involved in the vehicle in the accident.
