Three people were killed and two others were injured in an accident in Durbanville on Saturday, Cape Town paramedics said.

"The collision was between an Isuzu bakkie and a Jeep, on the R304 in Durbanville this morning," ER24 spokesman Tristan Wadeley said.

"Three people from the Isuzu bakkie were dead on arrival of emergency services, of which two were found outside the vehicle and believed to have been ejected in the collision. Two people from the Jeep sustained moderate injuries."

One patient was transported to Tygerberg Hospital and the other patient was taken to Durbanville Medi-Clinic.

It is alleged that the Isuzu bakkie was overtaking a group of cyclists when the collision occurred, Wadeley said.
