Police Minister Nathi Mthethwa said on Thursday Bheki Cele has been appointed as the country?s police commissioner because he is a hard worker and go getter.

Cele was announced as Jackie Selebi?s replacement on Wednesday.

Mthethwa said the incoming commissioner fit the profile of the job.

"I looked for somebody that would implement the policies we have to respond to the public out there."
