One person died and three others were injured on Saturday night when two motorbikes rode into the back of a car in Kraaifontein in Cape Town, paramedics said.

The crash occurred on Okavango Road near Cape Gate Shopping Centre at 9.15pm, said ER24 spokesperson Tristan Wadeley.

"A man was declared dead on the scene after resuscitation attempts by paramedics were unsuccessful. A lady was taken to Tygerberg Hospital in a serious condition," said Wadeley.

Two other people were taken to Durbanville Medi-Clinic with minor to moderate injuries.

Wadeley said no one in the car was injured.

"The road was closed while police investigated the incident," he said.
