Four police officers are facing misconduct charges after they were found drinking on the job at a Pretoria tavern on Tuesday.

Acting on a tip-off from Primedia's Crime Line, Sinoville Station Commissioner Ramakamakama Kekana went to the shebeen in Annlin and found his officers drinking alcohol.

They were supposed to be patrolling the area on foot.

Kekana says the officers will face harsh disciplinary action.

"We are going to charge them because this is totally unacceptable in the South African Police Service," said Kekana.
