African National Congress Youth League leader Julius Malema has refuted claims he assaulted a police reservist at a party in northern Johannesburg at the weekend.
Malema addressed hundreds of supporters outside the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court on Monday.
That is where his hate speech case was earlier postponed by the Equality Court to November.
Malema described himself as a police reservist, saying he fought crime and was an activist for law and order.
The youth league president urged supporters to come prepared for victory in November when closing arguments in his case will be heard.
He is facing charges of hate speech and harassment from comments he made about President Jacob Zuma's rape accuser.
Meanwhile, many of Malema's neighbours are furious about his party claiming it was raucous and carried on until 4am.
Malema insisted he informed all his neighbours he was going to throw a party and that things did not get out of hand.
"We even informed the police and we agreed that we are going to finish at 4am. Even after the party, we cleaned up everything so there should not be any accusations that there were bottles all over and there were condoms," said Malema.
Got something to say?
