A police reservist has told Eyewitness News he has laid a charge of intimidation and assault against ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema.
Malema held a house party in Sandton in northern Johannesburg on Saturday night. Many of his neighbours were furious, claiming the party was raucous and carried on until 4am.
The reservist, who wants to remain anonymous, said he asked Malema and his friends to turn the music down and claimed he was assaulted.
"I went to talk about the noise; he was standing in-front of me I could almost fall over from the smell. He could barely stand straight, he was 100 percent intoxicated," he said.
Malema denied the allegations and insisted the people at his party were well-behaved.
"If there was going to be any beating surely it was not going to be done by me. It is really unfair to try and paint us as a wrong picture. At four o'clock police were outside to make sure we close (sic) and we did that,'' said Malema.
