The parents of a teenager who was stabbed outside his Vanderbijlpark school have called on the Department of Education to enforce tighter security measures.

Jeandre Kruger was attacked by four pupils following an apparent racist altercation involving the k-word.

One teenager was arrested and will appear in court again on Wednesday.

Jeandre Kruger's father said despite the fact his son is recovering well at home he still fears for the worst.

"I don't think you can imagine how it feels when you see your kid ? you send him to school in the morning and he comes in the afternoon full of blood. It's just a terrible feeling."

He said the Education Department must expel pupils who carry weapons and drugs to school: "Look at what happened to the kid in Krugersdorp? Kids should not be allowed to take knives to school."

The case will resume on Wednesday morning in the Vanderbijlpark Magistrates Court where the 15-years-old's parents have been ordered to attend.

Police confirmed that the accused will be kept at a place of safety until further notice and more arrests are expected.
