The South African Weather Service says summer will probably be hotter and drier than usual this year.
Less rain is expected over the next few months meaning temperatures are likely to soar.
Forecasters say the El Nino phenomenon is probably to blame.
The weather service's Willem Landman said El Nino last hit South Africa two years ago.
"National temperatures for example during the late summer months we had an excess close to 4°C warmer than average," said Landman.
